New posts soon!

Santiago Spain

The city has its origin in the shrine of Saint James the Great, now the city's cathedral, as destination of the Way of St. James, a leading Catholic pilgrimage route.

What an interesting divided city. Couchsurfing has allowed us to see the city in a whole new way. The locals tell us of projects unfinished in a bankrupt economy. We were able to go out last night and we saw that the locals in the city at night and only at night. The people had passion, were kind and had a lot of fun.

Haven't updated in...forever.

We made it to Santiago! (Saint James » Saint Jacob » Saint Jacobe » Saint Iago » Santiago..... because that makes sense). We have been in a nice Albergue but it's cramped and there were like 10 people talking in their sleep last night. Not to mention the dude with sleep apnea and the chorus of snoring. So now we are couch surfing. We've meet some lovely people who are letting us stay in their living room for a few days. It's really ideal. And free!

Okay, so from Portomarin we walked about 4 days. It started raining the day before we arrived in Santiago and we haven't been very plussed about taking pictures or posting. So, I'm going to make up for it in the next few posts. Enjoy! !

From the church to the trail

Here is some stuff we saw yesterday. And some photos from Pamplona that I edited.

Waking from Sarria...:

Porto Marina

...These however, are the things you see on the way to the seedy port city. So, yeah.

Porto Marina

Gotta love a seedy port city. This was in our albergue....

Pilgrim offering...

On the Camino everyone thinks of the pilgrim behind them. These delicious grapes were left on a wall by someone who had had their fill. Lucky us!

Take what you need, leave what you can...

Many families leave food and drink out for pilgrims for donation only. This one was particularly lovely.

Guarnica, Churches, carnicerias, New friends

What more could you want?

We arrived in Pamplona

Okay, well, the past four or so posts have been posted from Pamplona.... but this post will have us all caught up.

On the way here we say all kinds of cool stuff. Abandoned churches, snakes, giant slugs, and lots of quaint towns with terra cotta roofs and gardens in the back yard.
